Our student ambassadors led the tours, and I am always so proud to hear them describe our school and help reassure 3rd Grade parents that they are coming to a good place. I love hearing our students describe the leadership experiences they have at Arroyo, the things they have learned in their classrooms, and the connections and relationships they have made. The parents left with big smiles, and several told me, “It’s clear how much the kids love it here” and “Our future is bright with leaders like this.” Nothing makes me happier than that! We know that these years can bring challenges, but ultimately our students know that they are valued and supported. This Thursday, Arroyo has the opportunity to highlight many of those same things for our School Board during their Spotlight on Excellence. Members of our Eagle Council will join me to share highlights of Arroyo and the many ways that we are putting our district’s strategic plan into action. 5th Grade parents have their own transition orientation coming up for Central Middle School this Tuesday, April 30, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in Mustang Hall. Join Principal Tom Domer and Assistant Principal Heidi Mickelsen as they walk you through the transition to 6th Grade. 5th Graders will also be completing their math placement assessments on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, so please be sure your child is well-rested and on time to school so they can do their best. At last week’s PTA meeting we voted in our new slate of officers for next year. I want to take a moment to thank all of the parents who have stepped up to serve in these critically important roles, especially to Esther Wang, who will serve as our Arroyo PTA president next year. I also want to extend a huge thank you to this year’s PTA Board and Trinity Murphy, Arroyo’s outgoing PTA president. We are incredibly lucky to have such great parent leaders in our community! As we come to the end of April, I want to give you a heads up on a few things that will be coming in May:
It’s time to sign up for the Talent Show! The Talent Show is almost entirely student-run and a much-anticipated event each year. Our 5th Graders who are leading the show asked me to share the following message: The 2024 Arroyo Talent Show is coming up! If your child wants to perform a skill (dancing, jokes, singing, etc.), please encourage them to do so. Sign-ups will be sent to your child’s school email and will also be a paper form they can pick up at recess or lunch. Forms are due by May 3. Performing is entirely optional but definitely encouraged. We hope your child will consider it! Remember that if you need to reach our front office for the rest of the school year, please use the email address [email protected] or call 650-632-8300. Our fantastic administrative assistant, Tracey Olazar, will be out for the rest of the school year. We are lucky to have Venetia Young filling in until Tracey returns in August. Enjoy the rest of this beautiful weekend! Breakfast and Lunch This WeekPlease take time to review the menu for next week with your child. If they do not see a breakfast and/or lunch option that they will eat, then please plan to help them pack their own lunch from home (or a hearty snack on Wednesday), and please send your child with a snack for morning recess regardless.
