Arroyo Eagle Eye - 02/09/20

Sunday, February 9, 2020

Principal's Message

Dear Arroyo Families,

Please join me at our PTA Meeting on Wednesday, February 12, at 7:00 pm in the CMS/Arroyo Library. Superintendent Michelle Harmeier will be with us giving us an important update on the district budget situation, engaging our parent community, gathering input and sharing possible implications for the coming year.

We’re excited to be hosting an upcoming author visit for 4th graders on Friday March 20.

Well known author and Newbery Medalist Avi brings our 4th graders his new historical adventure Gold Rush Girl!   In mud-caked, tent-filled 1848 San Francisco, our willful heroine, Victoria, goes on an unintended - and perilous - adventure to save her brother. Spot-on details and high suspense make this a vivid, absorbing historical tale.  Students who would like to order a personalized, signed copy of the book before the event can order through The Reading Bug at the following link:  Gold Rush Girl order form

We’ve seen an increase in students coming to school really early in the morning.  We don’t have supervision on campus until 8:20.  Students should not arrive at school until that time.

School will be closed the week of February 17-21 for mid-winter break.  We hope you have a great week!

Warmly,

Mindy Shelton

Principal

LCAP Parent Advisory Committee

All school districts in California must create and maintain a three-year growth plan called the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The LCAP is one portion of the budget development process and requires the district to monitor growth on SCSD's four goal areas. Stakeholder engagement is a key component of the LCAP monitoring process. Representatives from each school will form the 2020 LCAP Parent Advisory Committee (PAC). The PAC serves in an advisory role to offer feedback goal development and on progress in each goal area. All parents/guardians are encouraged to engage in this process.

The LCAP PAC is scheduled to meet on the dates below. All meetings will take place in the SCSD District Office Board Room, located at 1200 Industrial Road, Suite 9, in San Carlos. These are public meetings and any member of the community is encouraged to attend. If you are interested in becoming a part of the PAC, contact your principal.
