During 2025–26, San Carlos School District students continued to outshine and outperform school districts in San Mateo County and across the state. Thanks to amazing teachers and staff, and a laser-like focus on our Strategic Plan and Board Goals — together we reached these remarkable milestones.

Each month, our Spotlight on Excellence highlights a unique aspect of what makes San Carlos schools exceptional. On August 20, we proudly shared highlights from the start of the 2026-27 school year, including summer projects, staff professional development, and welcoming students and families to campuses this week.

Welcome to Arroyo! Our joint Arroyo/Central PTA is excited to welcome new and returning families back to school and hope to see you on campus at Arroyo Day (Monday, Aug. 17, 4-6 p.m.)! Families will have the opportunity to meet others from their class, take an outdoor, self-guided tour of campus, and enjoy some games and activities set up by our PTA. You can bring your own picnic and eat at our lunch tables or on the field, and purchase shaved ice from the Kona Ice Truck or soft serve ice cream from Mr. Softee’s. We hope to see you there!

We wanted to provide an update regarding Parent Portal access. The Parent Portal for elementary schools remains temporarily closed and is scheduled to reopen on Monday, August 17 at 4:00 PM for all TK–8 grade levels.

The PowerSchool Enrollment system is currently experiencing technical issues related to recent changes within the PowerSchool Enrollment hosting team. Unfortunately, these issues have resulted in delays in providing system access to some of our families.

We are actively working with the appropriate PowerSchool teams to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and appreciate your patience while they work to restore full access.

Technology Team

Cellphones and smartwatches are not permitted to be used on campus. Students should keep them off and in their backpacks during the school day. If a student needs to reach a parent or guardian, or vice versa, we will use the school phones: 650-632-8300. Please create a contact for Arroyo on your own phones so you recognize us if we call you. Thank you!

San Carlos School District wants to ensure that all students have access to nutritious meals and other food assistance during the summer months when school is not in session. We encourage families to consider the following resources available in San Mateo County.


Seamless Summer Option and Summer Food Service Program are two programs that provide meals without charge to all children ages 18 and under, regardless of income level, prior qualification, or district of residence. The following organizations are offering free breakfast and lunch this summer. Visit our School Lunch page for more information.

Join us for an Arroyo-Central summer social at Burton Park on Thursday, July 30, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Come catch up with old friends and meet new families and future classmates before school begins. We'll provide an ice cream sundae bar. Feel free to bring something to share! RSVP in the Evite.
