I want to especially thank our PTA Staff Appreciation team of Beth Rowell, Leslie Ostrander, Erika Nelson, and Jen Fischer, along with our room parents, headed by Hilary Briant, for coordinating the efforts. And thanks to everyone who sent food, flowers, heartfelt messages, and more! We are so lucky to have dedicated professionals and amazing volunteers supporting our school community. State testing continues this week with the computer adaptive tests (CAT) and performance tasks (PT) in math for both grades. Next week 5th Graders will take the California Science Test (CAST). Please avoid unnecessary absences before lunch and make sure students arrive at school on time. Getting a good night's sleep and having a healthy breakfast are also important. Encourage students to do their best but not to worry if there are questions that feel too hard. Students are not permitted to have electronic devices (cellphones, smartwatches, etc.) in the classroom during testing windows. 4th Grade families, please watch your email for elective information for next year. Early next week, you should receive an email from Mr. Fischer (if your child selected orchestra), Mrs. Green (if your child selected band), or me (if your child plans to take Innovation & Design). If you don’t receive an email or receive one you weren’t expecting, please reach out to me so we can make sure your child is assigned to the right class. This is your last opportunity to order your Arroyo yearbook in time for it to be delivered to school. Yearbooks are distributed the last week of school, and extra copies will not be available on campus, so be sure to order by this Wednesday, May 15, if your child would like one. This coming Saturday, May 18, is the beloved San Carlos Hometown Days Parade. We would love to have as many of our Arroyo families join us as possible wearing school colors and spirit wear. It’s an easy and fun way to show San Carlos how our Eagle spirit SOARS! Please see details below. Our annual Celebration of Learning is coming up on Thursday, May 23. Please join us at 5:15 p.m. in the Central quad for pizza and our Central-Arroyo Honorary Service Awards. Then stop by your child’s classroom from 6:00-7:00 for a closer look at some of the things they’ve been learning this year. Our Art in Action Art Show will also be on display in the Learning Commons from 6:00-7:00. Here are a few other dates to make sure you have on your calendar:
Finally, a reminder that if you need to reach our front office for the rest of the school year, please use the email address [email protected] or call 650-632-8300. Our fantastic administrative assistant, Tracey Olazar, will be out for the rest of the school year. We are lucky to have Venetia Young filling in until Tracey returns in August. Happy Mother’s Day to all of our Arroyo moms! I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Warmly, Breakfast and Lunch This WeekPlease take time to review the menu for next week with your child. If they do not see a breakfast and/or lunch option that they will eat, then please plan to help them pack their own lunch from home (or a hearty snack on Wednesday), and please send your child with a snack for morning recess regardless.
