Our fantastic administrative assistant, Tracey Olazar, will be out for the rest of the school year. We are lucky to have Venetia Young filling in until Tracey returns in August. As this edition of the Eagle Eye hits your inbox, we will be gathering on the blacktop for the annual Stampede & Soar Color Run. I hope you’ll join us for another opportunity to be together as a community. I want to thank Jamie Bailey, John Guinn, Maria Shih, Sondra Harding, Diana Herman, Margot Paulick, Hilary Briant, Jenny Goines, Kristi Martinez, and Kelin Ingalls, along with all of the volunteers who have worked tirelessly to prepare for the event. I hope to see you there! Congratulations to the cast of Willy Wonka KIDS, who put on two great performances this weekend. I had the pleasure of watching the show on Friday evening and was blown away by what a fantastic job they did. The only thing better than the show itself was seeing the pride on their faces afterward. A big thank you to Emily Eberhard for bringing this opportunity to life for our students, and to all of the parents who helped make the show happen. It was also great to see all of the students and families who came out to support their friends in the show. With all of that talent, I can’t wait for our 8th annual spring talent show! Aside from the talent on stage, one of my favorite things about our talent show is the student leadership that goes into it. This year we have five 5th Graders who have stepped up to be our leaders. Delia, Maya, Mia, Nitya, and Viola have already put in a lot of work to get the show started. We will need some parent support to help with supervision. If you’re available to help with that from 12:00-12:40 any days of the week, please email me at [email protected]. Sign-ups for student participation will kick off this week, and our student leaders asked me to pass along the following message: The 2024 Arroyo Talent Show is coming up! If your child wants to perform a skill (dancing, jokes, singing, etc.), please encourage them to do so. Sign-ups will be sent to your child’s school email and will also be a paper form they can pick up at recess or lunch. Forms are due by May 3. Performing is entirely optional but definitely encouraged. We hope your child will consider it! Tomorrow is Earth Day, and Arroyo will be celebrating with a special spirit week planned by our Eagle Council. Please encourage your child to participate.
I hope you’ll join us this Wednesday evening on Zoom for our PTA meeting, where we will be voting in our slate of officers for next year. And be sure to refer to the other important dates at the top of the Eagle Eye and mark those on your calendar, especially our Celebration of Learning on May 23, minimum day on May 24, and the Memorial Day holiday on May 27. Breakfast and Lunch This WeekPlease take time to review the menu for next week with your child. If they do not see a breakfast and/or lunch option that they will eat, then please plan to help them pack their own lunch from home (or a hearty snack on Wednesday), and please send your child with a snack for morning recess regardless.
