This week is conference week, and as a reminder every day is a minimum day. Students will be dismissed at 1:10pm.
October is Bullying Prevention Month. Since the Second Step Child Protection Unit is being presented in the classrooms for SEL lessons this month, we will be presenting Bullying Prevention focused curriculum starting in November.
This coming Wednesday, October 24 is UNITY DAY. All students and staff are encouraged to WEAR ORANGE to show support of Bullying Prevention. Together we are united for Kindness, Acceptance, and Inclusion.

REMINDER - ROPES IS COMING!
Tonight, October 22, is the 4th Grade ROPES Orientation for all students in 4th grade attending Arroyo, Arundel, Charter Learning Center, and Heather, and interested in doing a ROPES Project. The orientation will take place from 6 -7 PM in Central Middle School's Mustang Hall. Please attend to find out details about the ROPES project and to have an opportunity for students and parents to ask specific questions.
SAN CARLOS SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATH FAIR WORKSHOP #2
When: Wednesday, October 24th from 7:00pm-8:30pm
Where: Central Middle School Library
Students (and parents) in 5-8th grades interested in entering this year’s fair should try and attend. We will:
- Briefly review the key topics from September’s introductory meeting for students who missed this first meeting.
- Discuss how to design experiments for a successful STEM Fair project.
- Discuss and get valuable input on their project ideas with our community scientists and engineers during the second half of the meeting.
Attendance at the workshops is not required to enter the STEM Fair. The fair will take place on January 26th, 2019.

On November 9th at 7pm, join our SCSD music teachers, local musicians and community members for an evening of live music. This popular event, held at St. Charles Church in San Carlos, is great for the whole family. Refreshments will be available for sale at intermission. 8th Annual Halloween Candy Buy-Back
Enjoy some of your Halloween treats and then donate the rest! Drop-off your Halloween Candy at your school’s office November 1-7th. Local dentists Drs. Amin, Chang and Kaher will donate $1 per pound of wrapped candy to SCEF, and Operation Gratitude with Estes Express Shipping will ship the candy to our troops overseas.
